My Week

It has been a stressful week to say the least. My daughter has been sick for a better part of the last month. Her pediatrician has been working to find the right combination of medicines to help her feel better. Finally, I decided it was time to take her to a specialist who decided that she needed minor surgery. Her surgery was on Tuesday and went well. Olivia went home that afternoon. She was doing great Tuesday night only to wake up Wednesday vomiting and her eyes were matted shut. I called the doctor back and after a couple of blood samples and a chest x-ray doctors decided she had an upper respiratory infection and pink eye...in both eyes. Long story short, she's much better now and has graciously given me her respiratory infection and pink eye...in both eyes. Oh the joys of motherhood! I'm just super glad she is feeling better. I cannot even describe how helpless you feel when your child is sick and you can't make her feel better.

I thought I'd share a couple of pictures of the little princess.

Stephanie,

If there is one thing that will try a mother's strength and composure, it is her child's illness. My son was very ill and came down with pink eye a couple years ago. My husband had just started his new job, and as a teacher, I could not take many days off. It was a stressful time, but we worked through it. All you can do is make what you think are the best decisions about their medical care, keep them as comfortable as possible and love them. And lucky for us, that is all they usually need. I'm so glad that your daughter is feeling better now. Hopefully you will soon, too.

Have a great trip to Denver. If you have the time, take a drive toward Colorado Springs. My husband and I had a great trip out there in 2004. It is beautiful country.
